The South Australian Museum is a natural history museum and research institution in Adelaide, South Australia, founded in 1856 and owned by the Government of South Australia. In this tour, you will have the opportunity to browse the fine wine collection at the National Wine Centre, followed by a bespoke private dining experience with a four-course lunch or dinner, prepared and carefully curated by an Executive Chef. You will be collected by a private driver from your Adelaide Accommodation and dropped off at the Cape Jervis Ferry Terminal.

Cape Jervis, or in Kaurna language, Parawa, is a small community at the western tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula which has become the gateway to Kangaroo Island. Ferries to and from the island operate from here across the Backstairs Passage to Penneshaw, a 45-minute journey to the island paradise. A popular fishing spot for locals, there are several operators that provide fishing charters and cruises along the rugged coastline which forms part of the Encounter Marine Park, encompassing the coastline of the Fleurieu Peninsula and the east coast of Kangaroo Island. The nearby beaches showcase pristine sands and sparkling shallow rock pools perfect for kicking back and relaxing with an afternoon dip, or marvelling at the stunning lighthouse.

Historically, the nearby Fishery Beach to the south was the former site of the Cape Jervis Whale Fishery, and is now a State Heritage Site dedicated to a coastal revegetation program that reestablishes habitat for the beautiful Red-tailed Glossy Black Cockatoo.

If you have time to explore a little further, Deep Creek Conservation Park is just a 20-minute drive south-east and offers stunning coastal walks, picnic areas and wildlife that are often happy to spend time in your company. The secluded Blowhole Beach, in particular, has a beautiful vista over the Encounter Marine Park to the eastern point of Kangaroo Island and is well worth the hike down (and back up!).

SeaLink Kangaroo Island’s ferry service operates between Cape Jervis (two hours south of Adelaide) and Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. The journey takes just 45 minutes for the 16km crossing.

Today, you will arrive at the beautiful Sea Dragon on Kangaroo Island. With 250 acres of spectacular coastal estate, a stunning secluded beach, and ocean views from all boutique accommodations, Sea Dragon Kangaroo Island is unrivalled in rugged beauty and tranquilly.

Departing from Sea Dragon, your day of adventure begins by travelling west across the island to Seal Bay Conservation Park. Home to the endangered Australian Sea Lion, Seal Bay is the third-largest colony of this species. Your guides hold a special Seal Bay accreditation, meaning they are able to walk you through the striking sand dunes along this pristine beach, teaching you about these beautiful marine mammals along the way. From here, you will head to Vivonne Bay for a lunch stop at the General Store - famous for their local Whiting burgers. Heading towards Flinder's Chase National Park, keep an eye out for roadside wildlife as you witness the amazing bush regeneration after the devastating 2019 bushfires. A stop at Remarkable Rocks provides an amazing photo opportunity of these distinct red rock formations and the rugged coastline. From here you will visit other locations in the park, including Cape Du Couedic, Weirs Cove, and Admirals Arch, where you may spot long-nosed fur seals and other wildlife including echidnas, kangaroos, Rosenberg goannas, Tammar wallabies, and the Kangaroo Island Western Grey Kangaroo. On your return trip to Sea Dragon, you will stop at for a quick dip or walk at one of the many picturesque beaches, arriving back to your accommodation by late afternoon/ early evening. 

Today, you'll have the opportunity to take part in a selection of optional activities offered on site at Sea Dragon and on the Dudly Peninsula. These activities will be available on a rotating schedule, depending on seasonal conditions. You may choose as many or as few activities as you wish. There will be two or three activities daily including a Premium gin tasting/ cocktail making experience, Ligurian honey experience, visit to a sheep farm with Kelpie dog and sheep shearing demonstration, guided walks on the Sea Dragon Property and to/from the nearby Cape Willoughby lighthouse, Beach Yoga, Birdwatching tours, Antechamber Bay, Wildlife Walks and Star Talks.
