Bunbury

Located in Western Australia's south west near the world famous Margaret River wine region, Bunbury is the state's largest regional city. Nestled amongst Koombana Bay and the Leschenault Inlet, it is a city rich in marine influence. Visit the Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre to learn about the city's whaling history, and the even earlier stories of the Noongar people who have been living in the area for aeons. The most famous residents that call Bunbury home are the bottlenose dolphins that frequent Koombana Bay. You can swim with them in the wild through the Dolphin Discovery Centre which focuses their efforts on conservation, education and research helping to ensure the future of the very special marine life in the area. Bunbury is also an urban hub for local bars and restaurants, boutique shops and trendy coffee houses surrounded by street art and laneway culture. Don't forget to visit the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery (BRAG), if not to appreciate its exceptional rotating art exhibitions, then to at least get a photo in front of its distinctive, pink convent exterior.
