Day 2 - Stroll White, Sandy Beaches.
Start your day with the sounds of wattle birds in the treetops and the first rays of sunlight streaming through the forest. After a delicious breakfast, set off on a memorable journey along Maria Island’s stunning coastline, passing five incredible beaches. Feel the soft, white sand beneath your feet as you walk along shores scattered with colourful shells. Along the way, keep an eye out for dolphins frolicking in the surf and sea eagles gliding overhead, adding a touch of magic to your adventure. By late afternoon, you’ll reach White Gums camp, where a refreshing swim awaits. Day 3 - A Mountain Top or Wombat Walk.
Today’s journey takes you to the heart of Maria Island, where towering forests and remarkable landscapes await. Wander through the world’s largest stand of majestic Tasmanian Blue Gums, a serene experience in this pristine wilderness.
Choose your adventure: ascend the summit of Mt Maria, standing at 711 meters, or tackle the iconic Bishop and Clerk trail, a 599-meter climb through rare cloud rainforests. Both options reward you with breathtaking panoramic views of the island and its surrounding waters, being an unforgettable highlight of your journey.
In the afternoon, descend to the historic settlement of Darlington, where your day concludes with a stay at the beautifully restored, heritage-listed Bernacchi House. Day 4 - World-Heritage Listed Convict History.
Your final morning on Maria Island begins with a walk around its scenic northern tip, where diverse woodlands and forests host an array of rare endemic birds, wallabies, and wombats. This peaceful exploration leads you to the striking Fossil Cliffs, a dramatic reminder of the island's geological and natural wonders.
