Journey to remote Kangaroo Island and experience a four-day guided walk with lightweight daypacks along the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail. Return each evening to exclusive accommodation, chef-inspired meals paired with local beer and wine, in the comfort and ambience of the newly restored Cape du Couedic Lightkeeper Cottages, situated in the Flinders Chase National Park. Kangaroo Island is located 20 kilometres off the South Australian coast and is home to an abundance of native wildlife. You’ll be sharing the Island with koalas, sea lions, diverse bird species and, of course, kangaroos. You’ll feel completely at peace in the remote wilderness of Kangaroo Island.
Kick off your adventure with a scenic ferry ride from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island. After a hearty breakfast, set out on a 3-hour guided trek through the Black Swamp and Platypus Waterholes trails, where you'll discover ancient Gondwanan history and search for elusive platypus. Following a secluded trail-side lunch, you’ll arrive at your base for the next three nights: the historic Cape du Couedic Lightkeeper Cottages. Spend the afternoon visiting the iconic Admirals Arch and nearby fur seal colonies, or simply relax with a pre-dinner drink. The day wraps up at Wickies Lounge with a gourmet barbecue featuring local produce and fine wine as the sun sets over the coast.

Start the day right with a hearty breakfast and freshly brewed coffee prepared by your guides. Energised and ready, it’s time to lace up the boots for another unforgettable adventure. A one-hour shuttle ride brings you to Snake Lagoon, the starting point of the day’s trek. Follow the Snake Lagoon Trail as it winds along the Rocky River through serene eucalypt forests, before transitioning to a breathtaking 5-kilometer stretch along Maupertuis Bay. This southwest-facing beach boasts stunning coastal views and rich history. Discover the story of the Loch Sloy, wrecked in 1899, along with other fascinating tales from the past. Take in the dramatic scenery of crashing waves and breathe deeply of the fresh, salty air before ascending a short climb to the edge of spectacular limestone cliffs. With views of the lighthouse appearing and disappearing on the horizon, home base at Cape du Couedic is gradually within reach.

Begin the day at one of Kangaroo Island’s most iconic landmarks, the spectacular granite formations of Remarkable Rocks. Shaped by millions of years of wild weather, these orange-lichen-covered boulders are the perfect backdrop for capturing a quintessential Kangaroo Island photo. From there, follow the dramatic cliff edges on an 8-kilometer walk along the southern coast, soaking in unobstructed views that stretch to Sanderson Bay. But the adventure doesn’t end there! A quick transfer brings you to Weirs Cove, where sparkling wine and freshly shucked oysters await on the beach, a perfect way to toast the day’s journey. Keep an eye out for the island’s vibrant birdlife along the way. Species like the Scarlet Robin, Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, Striated Thornbill, Red and Little Wattlebirds, Brown-headed Honeyeater, and Grey Currawong might make an appearance for those with a keen eye. After a day filled with awe-inspiring coastal vistas, return to Cape du Couedic Cottages for another evening of relaxation. Unwind over locally sourced wine, beer, cheese, and seafood, as the perfect end to a remarkable day.
