Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)

Kata Tjuta, meaning “many heads” in the local Anangu language, is a spectacular collection of 36 domed rock formations rising dramatically from the red desert floor. Located about 40 kilometers west of Uluru, these massive formations are composed of conglomerate rock and reach heights of up to 546 meters, making them taller than Uluru in some places. The site holds profound cultural and spiritual significance for the Anangu people, with sacred valleys, caves, and walking trails that reveal ancient stories, rituals, and traditions. Kata Tjuta’s rugged, otherworldly landscape, with its deep gorges and striking colors at sunrise and sunset, offers an awe-inspiring complement to Uluru and showcases the enduring power and beauty of the Australian outback.
