Wonders of Kangaroo Island
Venture west from the lodge to explore the marvels of Flinders Chase National Park. Stop at Admiral's Arch for a photo opportunity and stroll along the boardwalk to the resident fur seal colony frolicking in the waves. Continue to see the Remarkable Rocks, a gathering of windswept limestone rocks painted with orange lichen - another photo opportunity you won't want to miss.
Seal Bay
Protected since 1954 and established as a conservation park in 2002, Seal Bay is home to Australia's third-largest sea lion colony. Here you can safely visit this endangered species in close quarters, wandering into the heart of the colony as seal pups play around you and their mums restfully soak up the sunshine. Learn about their unique breeding cycle and the ongoing research programs implemented to protect this special species.
Coastal Clifftop Walk
Start on the lodge's doorstep and embark on a walk traversing the pristine limestone clifftops of Hanson Bay. This easy, guided walk treats you to southern vista views of cliffs covered in hardy local flora with turquoise waves crashing below. Realising that nothing stands between you and Antarctica but the big blue ocean is a memorable moment you will home take with you.
Southern Sundowners
Depart the lodge by car to take a twilight trip to the historic island property known as Grassdale. Here the kangaroos meander for their meal, feeding on grass as you sip on premium South Australian wines and sample tasty snacks. As you breathe in the fresh air, mesmerized by the serenity of the bush, the dusky glow sweeping the landscape instils a quiet moment of reflection - frozen in time as a memory you will come back to for years to come.
Nocturnal Explorer
Be immersed in a secret world that comes to life after dark at the Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Wander beneath southern skies as you search for the most elusive members of the wildlife community, including owls, bats and echidnas. Encounter kangaroos and wallabies up close, and spot notable star constellations eons away in the unspoiled night sky.
