Coorong National Park

Established in 1966, the Coorong National Park comprises a coastal lagoon stretching 140km along the southeast coast of South Australia. The Coorong is a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar agreement as a migratory wader and waterfowl refuge, supporting many significant and endangered species. The name Coorong is derived from the Aboriginal word 'karangk', meaning narrow neck - referring to the long shape of the park. Here you will be a guest on the land of the Ngarrindjeri people, the traditional custodians of the region. Popular activities in the park include bird watching, 4-wheel driving, mountain biking, kayaking and exploring the various walking trails. The Coorong is a place of tranquility and connection to the land, and is a wonderful place to venture into the untamed wilderness of windswept beaches and inland bays.
