Coonawarra
Coonawarra is a small town in South Australia's south-east, close to the Victorian border. It is best known for the Coonawarra Wine region named after the town itself and is the most prominent on the Limestone Coast, which runs from Port Macdonnell in the south, up to Lake Alexandrina and the Coorong National Park further north. Coonawarra is most known for its bold, full-bodied red wines, notably Cabernet Sauvignon. There are more than 24 cellar doors packed into this world-famous wine region, making it the perfect place to spend a day tasting your way around wineries, or as a stop for lunch on your way to see the stunning Naracoorte Caves, just 20 minutes further north up the Riddoch Highway.
